A GROUCHs Christmas is a 1999 SESAME STREET storybook featuring OSCAR THE GROUCH.

On the day before Christmas, Elmo helps his mother bake Christmas cookies. Going outside to build a snowmonster, Elmo sees his friends preparing for the holiday.

Bert & Ernie carry a huge Christmas tree back home. BIG BIRD decorates his nest, & Luis decorates the Fix-It Shop. Count von Count Counts snowflakes. Herry Monster dresses as Santa Claus, & rings a bell to help collect toys & food for needy families, to whom he & Grover are going to deliver the food & toys.

Elmo is shocked to learn that OSCAR THE GROUCH hates Christmas, calling it "the worst time of the year for GROUCHES". Elmo decides that hell teach OSCAR to like holiday. He enlists the help of his friends, & his mother helps him make special cookies for OSCAR.

The group assembles later on at OSCARs TRASH CAN. Bert & Ernie bring OSCAR a bedraggled little tree, decorated with tin cans & bits of orange peel. BIG BIRD says to OSCAR that the next day his GRANNY BIRD is coming to visit. He then suggests that OSCAR have GRUNDGETTA come to visit. Herry asks OSCAR if he has anything that hes willing to donate to needy families, so OSCAR gives him a red & white striped tie -- its too clean & doesnt even have 1 moth hole in it & he really wouldnt want GRUNDGETTA to see it. The Count Counts OSCARs friends while Elmo gives OSCAR his special creation -- a dozen sardine cookies with chocolate icing.

Won over by the holiday spirit, OSCAR joins in as the friends sing Christmas carols.
