OSCAR THE GROUCH accurately predicts that he’ll tell BIG BIRD to scram & will trick TELLY into opening his can of spring-loaded snakes. When Maria comes to give him some TRASH on schedule, he admits he’s grown tired of doing the same GROUCHY things every day. She suggests he change things up & he concludes he should find somewhere else to live, with new possibilities to be GROUCHY. He wistfully sings that there’s "A GROUCHY Place" for him out there & he’s going to find it.

OSCAR situates his TRASH CAN outside the Mail-it-Shop, perfectly blocking the entrance & causing postman Grover to spill his delivery. The "GROUCHY atmosphere" is ruined when Rosita happily receives a package & he realizes more people will do the same. He resolves to move somewhere else.

OSCAR relocates to behind the counter of Hooper’s Store, instantly bothering Alan, who accidentally wakes FLUFFY from her nap. She tries to drink Elmo’s milkshake & Elmo is more than willing to share it. OSCAR fears the store is too much of a good influence & decides to move again.

OSCAR moves now into the middle of the Arbor, where Telly & the kids play catch. The ball lands into OSCARs TRASH CAN, inspiring Telly to create a new game - " GROUCH in the Middle!" Due to the area’s status as a public area, he can’t get them to scram, so he comes up with the perfect place to move ("...& it’s right here in this galaxy!").

OSCAR has moved back to his original area, singing a reprise of his song & claiming it’s perfect the way it is. He has found new ways of annoying people, thanks to his new alarm system for the steps & his sprinkler system (FLUFFY), that squirts water in Maria’s face.

Elmo & Natalie Portman are going to play "The Princess & the Elephant." Natalie initially plays the princess, but wants to be the elephant too. They change the story around so they can both be elephants & an actual elephant appears to play the princess.

He gets sucked in, however, when OSCAR claims it could be something he likes, but he won’t ruin the surprise. Telly eagerly opens the can, hoping to find a triangle inside, but is met with spring-loaded snakes again.

Global Grover - Grover returns from having attended school somewhere in Africa. The Elephant has never been to school, so Grover shows him a film about a girl as she prepares to go to school. After the film, Grover has written the word "boy" on a chalkboard & drawn a picture of a boy. The elephant shows what he has learned by jumping, creating general havoc.
