The Colors of Spring is a 1987 SESAME STREET storybook published by Ideal Toys for the "BIG BIRD StoryMagic" toy set.

On a Spring day, the BIRDS-of-a-FEATHER Club are trying to earn their "Know-Your-Colors" badges & LITTLE BIRD asks BIG BIRD for help. 1st the Becca BIRD paint yellow pictures in front of 123 SESAME STREET, including pictures of Bees, Bananas & Prairie Dawns hair. When they begin to paint blue pictures, including Grover on his bike, Cookie Monster comes by & crashes into Maxwell Bird, spilling his blue paint all over him.

The club then moves to the park where OSCAR THE GROUCH points out some GREEN items for them to paint, including his friend IGGY THE INCHWORM, who falls into Buddys paint, splashing GREEN all over each of them. Becca BIRD is knocked out of Frazzles wagon, & falls into a patch of strawberries, turning red in the process.

Then the Orange family & the Purple family invite everyone over to their picnic lunch, but when everyone sat on the same side, it tips over, spilling grape jam over Billy BIRD & orange juice over Holly BIRD.

On their way home it begins to RAIN, & despite their hustle to get out of the RAIN, the BIRDS are caught in the storm, only to discover that it has washed them clean, turning the BIRDS yellow again. & when the short lasting storm passed, the group continued their pursuit of a badge by painting pictures of a RAINBOW.

CAROLL SPINNEY recorded the voices of BIG BIRD & OSCAR THE GROUCH, & FRANK OZ the voice of Cookie Monster, for the accompanying cassette tape.

BIG BIRD sings a song at the end of the tape, "Without Colors", & there is also a musical interlude listed on the tape as "Blue, Red, GREEN, Orange & Purple", which BIG BIRD sings after each color accident. Both are written by Dave Conner.
